The food was good, but this isn't a review of the food, it's a review of the service. Quick background, after a late birthday party on a Saturday night, my wife really wanted to get some carry out for breakfast. She placed an on line order at the Northville location. I was a little worse for wear, but it was my job to go pick up the food. After waiting around for a little bit, I learned much to my dismay, that she accidentally ordered at the Detroit location . I spoke with the manager, and he said not to worry, and they were going to make the order for us. While I was waiting, he even directed me over to the bar and got me a coffee on the house. I appreciated such a small, kind gesture.
First time visit with my family of 4 and we enjoyed almost everything that we had. The portions for both the kids and adult meals are plentiful which I appreciate. I had the berry waffle which was cooked to perfection and well sized. My husband enjoyed the chicken crepe and both kids meals were good. My only complaint was the cheesy grits; they were flavorless and need to be cooked with some seasoning. I'm taking them Home to doctor up for tomorrows breakfast.
Amazing service best high end breakfast spot !!! Amazing operators and staff !!!!!!!!
Wow, wow, wow! What a great first experience. The Hudson Cafe is always busy, so we made a reservations for 11:45on a Saturday. We walked in to a two hour wait, but with our reservation we were immediately seated. Our server was awesome. And our food came out very quickly in spite of the busy place. I had the triple-triple omelet and it was packed with meat and cheese and somehow light. I chose potatoes and cinnamon raisin toast. Both were delicious (I'm still thinking about the toast). My husband had the cinnamon pancakes. They were humungous and delicious. He also had eggs and bacon sides, which were cooked to perfection. Our coffee was hot, and a large ice water was automatic. A note: with the busy Saturday it was noisy in there. I know my older father would not have been able to hear a thing. I wonder what a weekday would be like. I plan to find out!!
We were able to sit right down there weren't many people but then again we came in between breakfast and lunch crowds. So if you don't want to wait go about 10 am. By the time we left it was packed with a line waiting. The looks very natural inside wood and greenery but very minimalist and relaxing. I had the red velvet pancakes with the cream cheese on the side. My friend had gluten free Cinnabon pancakes. They were both delicious and huge. They give you 3 pancakes that fit a dinner plate. We were only able to eat one each and took the rest home.
It was the middle of the week so I was surprised to see a packed parking lot at this new restaurant. Inside, the restaurant was equally full so I was grateful there was a free table available. I had already taken a look at the menu a day earlier and had intended on ordering either the Apple Walnut French Toast or one of my brunch go-tos, an eggs benedict. However, I took another peek at the menu and spotted a club sandwich - on sliced bread. Exactly how my dad makes them. So of course, I went with that instead, with the sweet potato fries. The club sandwich was enormous and included the usual ingredients: turkey slices, bacon, tomato, and lettuce. As well, it also included little touches like guacamole and sriracha-flavored mayo. Yum! I would be remiss if I did not mention the service. Both the host and the server were fabulous. I had forgotten the joy of eating out, as I usually order takeout. I was grateful for the kind suggestions and appreciated how the server anticipated my needs (take-out box, refill, check). The only drawback was the noise; it was difficult to converse. I plan to return for some of the other items on the menu: Hudson salad, BLT...EGG, roasted beet salad. There are so many choices!
still too busy for its own good, but good food will do that. Reservations is almost a must. Still a little noisy for everyone in a large party to ear the other end of the table, but our small party didn't have a problem. Limited menu but wide enough to find a few things you will have to choose from. Typical breakfast items along with sandwiches and salads. Does serve alcohol for those who want that before 3 PM, their closing time. I got my normal, Monte Cristo Sandwich and it was good there and warmed up the next day. I didn't want to pay extra for a side so that was my lunch. Others really enjoyed their choices. Parking close can be a little problem so be prepared to walk a little if needed. I might try them during the week instead of a weekend to see if the noise level is better and the parking also
